Taurus
What do Al Pacino, Jack Nickolson, George Clooney, David
Boreanaz (Seeley Booth in Bones) and Pierce Brosnan have in common, beside the
hunk factor?
They are all Taurus males. Keep that in mind as we work
through Taurus.
Venus rules Taurus (also Libra see previous post).
Venus (the planet with energies of beauty, light and love), represents
the power of attraction and the artistic nature, and an inner sense of calmness
and peace that draws people.
A Taurus, when positive:
- is a
good person to depend on. They follow through on their responsibilities,
especially to family.
- has an
earthly/earthy wisdom that attracts people.
- has a strong sense of determination.
When they focus on their goals they often reach their destination.
- likes nice things but has a sensible
outlook on life—a the hallmark of this sign.
When Venus is out of balance in Taurus:
- the
person will take on the attributes of the opposite—grosser side of the
sign; careless, possessive, indecisive, overly romantic, sluggish and
dependent on others.
- if
fear of change or other fears reign, they will attract those who will
irritate them to the point of causing the Taurean to make changes (fear or
no fear) and then stability will reassert itself.
Taurus is an
Earth sign, connected to the body and the physical world, rooted in sensuality,
pleasure and celebrating the blessings of the material world. The Taurus bull's
horn becomes a Horn of Plenty, overflowing with Venus' gift of luscious
abundance.
When Taurus is in tune with their sense of oneness and
harmony with the earth, he/she will drop the feeling of being harassed into trying to gain all the money and
possessions they initially felt they wanted, and learn to bear in mind that there
is beauty beyond the world of material possessions.
The Tarot card that is aligned with Taurus is The
Hierophant. The Heirophant’s great gift is his ability for inner hearing. He is
the spiritual messenger and as a Taurus, his true gift lies in his capacity for
self-discipline. He represents stability, discrimination, practicality and
inner strength. He represents the need to search for meaning in one’s life.

Hierophant,
deriving from the Greek “hieros” meaning “sacred,” and “phainein” meaning “to
reveal,” is the title of the high priest of the Eleusinian cult. In the mystery
religion of the Greek Eleusis, the vegetation cycle of the death and burial of
grain in the ground and its rebirth in the spring became symbolic of the
spiritual life of man.

I'll look at Pisces cuz that's what both my husband and I are, but my daughter's Taurus, and I have to say that doesn't really sound like her at all. She's not really into material things...well, yes she is. Not materialistically though, if that makes sense. She hordes everything from scraps of paper to clothing tags that have a pretty picture on them. But she forgets about them the next day (and I promptly get rid of them!) She can be uninterested in DOING anything, but I wouldn't call her sluggish. She's constantly bouncing off the walls, even if it's just literally from one wall to the other. LOL
I'm a Taurus and so is my eldest daughter. This was a very interesting read and I have to tell you, I'm diggin' who I share my sign with!
I would say that I can see that a lot of the description holds a true ring for me ~ with the exception of material focus. I really enjoyed the post!
It's interesting how you can know two people in the same sign who are very different. A Taurus out of balance helps to explain that. Last night and possibly tonight, Venus and Jupiter were bright and close together in the western sky. Very cool to see!
I'm a Taurus, and this actually sounds a little like me. How eerie :)
She is probably too young to have some of the Taurus characteristics (materialistic). And, it really all depends on her chart. Some people have a strong rising sign with lots of planets it in and then they take on more of their rising sign characteristics than their sun sign. I think the main thing is her charm at this age. I'll bet she is very endearing.

Yes, two Taurus people can be very different depending on where they are in the balance. I know one that is very giving and unselfish, another who abandoned his family and was selfishly motivated. Thanks for stopping by.
I guess you never had your horoscope done. It's amazing how a sketch of us is written in the stars, so to speak. But, we make the painting out of that sketch with what we do with that information. Hope you can use some of this in your writing.
I'm on the cusp between Taurus and Aries, and I do like me a nice pedicure. ;) I haven't ever paid enough attention to sort out which sign is dominant at any given time, but I definitely think I swing back and forth.
I've been surrounded by Taureans all my life! That leads me to the whimsical thought that there could be a race of people somewhere . . . Anyway, Cora I'm intrigued by your idea to use these traditional archetypes as the starting point for characterisation.
I'm curious, if Taureans surround you, what strong sign are you to deal with all those bulls?

I love this series. I love how you tie in the Tarot and give historical detail. So fascinating. Someone once did my chart based on the sidereal calendar and said I was, therefore, a Taurus, not a Gemini. I seem to have a lot of the earthy, sensuous and inner hearing traits of Taurus. Do you have any opinion on the sidereal calendar and charting from it?
